Open Doors USA recently launched the Lighthouse Project with the aim to massively distribute 3.4 million Bibles, commentaries, study Bibles, hymnals, and other resources to Chinese house churches. "Training is so important in countries like China, where the growth of house churches is just tremendous," Open Doors' ministry spokesman John Dykstra says. "But they need those resources, and they need the training. This is what Open Doors will do, and it will have a potential of impacting thousands of Christians."
Dykstra mentioned that it is known that about 15,000 to 20,000 Christians are coming to Christ on a daily basis; the materials provided through the project will be a blessing to the Christians in China. He commented, "There are an estimated 500 million youths under 18 years old in China. I don't know if we can really grasp that fact, but that is just a tremendous, tremendous opportunity and they are really the future of the Church in China."
Dykstra also pointed out that the house churches have no tools to reach to their young and youths. However, Open Doors has plans to send over 125,000 children's Bibles with one million pieces of Sunday school materials. For more than a decade, Open Doors has provided Christian children in China with over 1.2 million copies of the Bible.
Open Doors has conducted Bible-based literacy classes and established discipleship training and vocational training throughout the world. Each year the ministry distributes millions of Bibles worldwide and has trained thousands of pastors and church leaders for over 50 years.
