Operation Christmas Child is currently collecting gift-filled shoe boxes for suffering children worldwide. At present time, millions of U.S. kids, families, churches, scout troops, schools, and civic organizations are packing shoe boxes with small toys, necessity items, school supplies, candy, and letters of encouragement.
On Nov. 15-22, some 7 million gift-filled shoe boxes will be collected at drop-off locations across the United States and 10 other countries, and processed in gift-filled warehouses by tens of thousands of key volunteers worldwide. These gift-filled shoe boxes will be delivered to children of 95 countries around the world.
In addition, a U.S kids rally organized by Operation Christmas Child will take place at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, N.C. on Dec. 9. This particular event will generate more than 110,000 shoe box gifts which will be airlifted aboard one of the world’s largest airplanes bound for children in Russia, including the surviving school children of Beslan.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief organization headed by Franklin Graham, which is currently providing humanitarian aid to hurting people around the world.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has hand-delivered more than 31 million shoe box gifts to kids in some 120 countries on six continents. For more information on how to participate in the project, call (800) 353-5949 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org
