After staying in Florida for the last two months offering aid and support to the victims of four devastating hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, Convoy of Hope finally returned to its home base in Springfield, Missouri on October 5.
As of October 4, Convoy of Hope had distributed 169 truck loads of relief supplies. According to COH Media Director Jeff Nene, the Convoy of Hope distributed over 6.5 million pounds of supplies and served nearly 300,000 people with the assistance of nearly 3,400 volunteers.
"Many churches and organizations picked up products from us as well to distribute to various neighborhoods and to other disaster responders," Nene says.
The relief effort in Florida has become the biggest one in the history of Convoy of Hope. As the hurricanes struck the state, the effort was duplicated repeatedly.
As soon as COH returns home, it will shift new focus on outreaches to many other regions of the US and the world including Charleston, South Carolina; Mesa, Arizona; and Lisbon, Portugal.
