Focus on the Family’s Love Won Out conference will head back to Minneapolis for a second time after being invited by North Heights Lutheran church in Arden Heights.
“We are so pleased that Minneapolis has invited us back to share again that change is possible for those who are no longer satisfied with their homosexuality,” said Mike Haley, host of the Love Won Out conference, a former homosexual and the author of the book 101 Frequently Asked Questions About Homosexuality.
The conference will take place on Sept. 18. Conference speakers include experts on homosexuality and gender Joseph Nicolosi, Ph.D.; college professor Dick Carpenter, Ph.D.; and Jane Boyer, a nurse practitioner and former lesbian.
Minnesota Sen. Michele Bachmann, the author of the state amendment protecting traditional marriage, will also attend the gathering.
“I know that Love Won Out will present the truth about homosexuality and present it in a compassionate and loving manner," said Bachmann.
Although the proposed amendment didn't make it to vote in the Legislature, Bachmann is looking forward to the message offered by Love Won Out.
"Those of us working to safeguard marriage from redefinition by radical judges must inform our efforts with an understanding of the deep emotional wounds that many in the homosexual community carry. I look forward to welcoming Minnesotans and residents of surrounding states to hear the message of healing that is possible."
According to Haley, the conference aims to equip churches and ministers "to minister to those who want to leave behind their same-sex attractions in a loving and understanding manner."
He added, "At the same time, tolerance includes the gay community respecting the desire of these individuals to leave homosexuality.”
