President Bush, along with his brother, Florida governor Jeb Bush, joined Convoy of Hope efforts to help victims of Hurricane Harley and Frances on Wednesday a Convoy distribution site in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Bush helped pass out water, ice and supplies, according to Convoy of Hope, which has been passing out over 280,000 pounds of ice and water, filling up 18 tractor loads, at its three distribution sites in Florida: Fort Pierce, Ocala and Cross City.
The president's presence and volunteer work has won the votes and hearts of some Floridians while drawing criticism from others.
Florida State Police reported the line of cars waiting to receive help at this site was over five miles long on Tuesday morning.
The ministry plans to deliver an additional 36 loads of water and ice over the next 4 – 5 days.
