The World Headquarters of Campus Crusade for Christ in Lake Hart, Florida, will close its operation beginning Sept. 3 to prepare for the coming Florida's second hurricane in three weeks.
The headquarters, vital to the works of over 27,000 full-time staff and 226,000 trained volunteers in 190 countries around the world, reported minimal damages to its buildings and trees after the impact of Hurricane Charley but was able to continue operations after restoring electricity five days after. Many of its 900 staff members have returned to work but must now leave the premises again to follow an order for over 2.5 million Floridans to evacuate as Hurricane Frances, twice the size of Charley, approaches.
No staff members were injured during Florida's first hurricane although several suffered damage losses.
President of Campus Crusade Steve Douglass is praying that God will protect ministry's headquarters and its staff members from Hurricane Frances.
“We invite the friends of Campus Crusade to join us in prayer,” said Douglass. “As powerful as Frances is, it represents only an infinitesimal fraction of the power of God. I am praying that God will blunt the force of the storm and spare us the injury and damage that Frances has the potential to inflict.”
