This year, Missionette Ministries, a ministry of Assemblies of God for young girls, will celebrate its 50th Anniversary, themed "Honor the Past, Imagine the Future”, through two events, according to an announcement during the National Children’s Ministries Leadership Conference, April 27-30, at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri.
Debby Seler, Missionettes Ministries National Coordinator, announced the first event will be a luncheon during the 2005 General Council in Denver, Co. and the second event will coincide with the National Missionettes Ministries Conference to take place August 2006 in Springfield, Mo.
"One of the reasons we're having two events celebrating the 50th birthday in two different years," Seler explains, "is that Missionettes was formally approved and created in 1955, but the first Missionettes club was not chartered until 1956."
Missionettes was developed by the national Women’s Ministries Department of A of G in the 1950s after seeing there was a need to train young girls and women to prepare them for women ministry. The girls ministry features six different clubs organized according to age or grade, including: Rainbows Club (ages 3 &up), Daises (Kindergarten), Prims (1st and 2nd grade), Stars (3rd –5th grades), Friends (6th-8th grades), and Girls Only Club (9th-12th grades).
A magazine exclusively offered through the Missionettes Ministry, called “Club Connection”, gives a Biblical perspective on issues young girls face and also has pictures and news from different Missionettes clubs.
The luncheon, for girls and women who have been or are currently involved in the Missionettes program, will focus on honoring the past while the National Missionettes Ministries Conference will place a focus on the future.
