The Klaudt Indian Memorial Foundation will sponsor an admission-free Alumni Homecoming Concert on March 18 at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Featured performers will include The Klaudt Brothers and other Christian performers.
The Klaudt Brothers are children to R.H and Lillian Klaudt who started the ministry called “The Klaudt Indian Family”, known for their appearances on the Gospel Singing Jubilee, which was a syndicated television show that aired in the 1960s. The late Gospel pioneer Vestal Goodman also appeared the show with her husband.
At the start of his ministry, R.H. Klaudt was ordained by Church of God minister F.J. Lee. The Lee University received its from F.J. Lee.
Other featured artists will include Jody Brown Indian Family, Sunshine Boys, Sunday Edition, King’s Men Four, Homeland Harmony Quartet, Bob Crews, Voices of Lee, and the Lee University Brass Ensemble.
During the concert, the Klaudt Foundation will be introducing their first scholarship, which will be presented to a Native American student attending Lee University.
“We want to give back to Lee University, because it has meant so much to our family,” said Kenneth Klaudt, “but mostly, we want to honor our heritage and the legacy our parents left in gospel music.”
The Klaudt ministry began with R.H. and Lillian Klaudt on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota in the late 1920’s. The family traveled as evangelists and musicians for 50 years, known as the Klaudt Indian Family musicians. Throughout the 1950s and 60s, the entire family attend Lee University, then called Lee College, to further their education. They retired their ministry in the early 80’s.
The Klaudt Brothers will gather at the concert for what will be possibly their last performance.
