Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) shows that spring break is not only a chance to take a break but to break down to the grace of Jesus Christ. Through a week-long conference offered three times during March, Big Break 2004 will gather thousands of students nationwide at Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida, to participate in a worship and evangelical event.
Kimberley, a student at Saint Petersburg College in Clearwater Florida, attended church regularly but never accepted Christ. After two days of attending the Big Break 2003 spring break conference, she immediately felt the affects. “God was finally breaking down the walls to my heart,” she said. “God used Big Break to change my life.”
The 8-day event entails activities to help participants, who are mainly comprised of college students, establish a firmer relationship with Jesus. The schedule includes time to listen to guest lectures and to other college students share with each other the gospel as revealed through Jesus Christ. Prayer meetings and worship sessions can be expected to open the hearts of those still reluctant to accept Christ.
“Being a Christian is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not about how much you know about Him!,” said Kimberly, the winner of the CCC-sponsored contest, “What’s Your Story?”.
Three separate dates are scheduled for the Big Break 2004 conferences, March 6-13, March 13-20, and March 20-27. During the week, participants not only hang out on the shores of sunny Panama Beach but they take time to spread the gospel to the partying crowd.
Sadie Luecke, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, who attended the Big Break event during a previous year described it as being “amazing.”
“The week we were at Big Break, 117 people accepted Christ on the beach as our students shared the gospel. Praise the Lord for how He works even in the craziness of Spring Break!”
