BALTIMORE - The Global Alliance has been formed to enhance providing the needs of the impoverished parts of the world. Along with 10 other international Christian organizations, World Relief would join in the partnership of the Global Alliance, World Relief reported. For 60 years, World Relief has worked with local churches to reach out to the poor of other countries focusing on variety of programs such as disaster relief, refugee assistance, AIDS ministries, community health, agricultural development, and community banking.
“Poverty, sickness, injustice—all of these things continue in our world today, making it difficult for one organization with limited resources to make a significant difference” said World Relief president, Clive Calver. “Put the resources of many together, however, and a significant difference can be made.”
Through the Global Allliance, one or two partner organizations with the resources and financial support of the others would come and provide help to whichever countries that are suffering from poverty instead of sending many organizations with similar programs to relieve the problems. This way, the outreach would function more efficiently in terms of costs and intervention and save more lives.
The Global Alliance partners are: Cedar Fund (Hong Kong), Human Bridge (Sweden), Mission East (Denmark), Strømme Foundation (Norway), Tearfund (Belgium), Tearfund (Netherlands), TearFund (New Zealand), TearFund (Switzerland), Tearfund (United Kingdom & Ireland), World Relief Canada and World Relief.
